Adoption Process

Adopting a rescue dog can be a challenging experience. Some of these dogs have experienced abuse, and neglect, and some have had very little human contact. Your rescue may take quite a bit of time to adjust to life as a pet. Most dogs do remarkably well and bring lots of joy and a great sense of satisfaction to their new owners.

Individuals interested in adopting one of our dogs must complete the Adoption Application on our website. If you meet our requirements and appear to be a good match for one of our dogs, we may schedule a home visit and/or interview with one of our volunteers. Only then will you be able to meet a prospective placement. Be advised, we will not place a dog in an environment which we feel will not be a permanent placement, please respect our decisions in this matter, that does not mean that you would not be a good match for another dog.

Out of State Adoptions

Please read this information carefully before submitting an application.  We can adopt dogs to out-of-state residents on rare occasions and only if you are willing to come and pick up the dog.

We will not ship dogs or transport dogs.  We prefer that you meet the dog in person first. Please do not complete an application unless you are willing to make this arrangement. Since a home-check may not be feasible, we would ask you to take the following steps:

1) Complete and submit the adoption application (the link is below)

2) Include:

  • Photos of your home/ yard where the dog will spend his/ her time.

  • An explanation as to how you would/could pick up the dog.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees are dependent on the circumstances of each dog.

Our expenses preparing rescues for adoption are much greater than our fees cover. Donations above the adoption fees help us continue our efforts to rescue dogs.

Please be aware:
Our adoption fees represent a small portion of what it costs us to rescue and rehabilitate these dogs.

Why do I have to pay to rescue a dog? (Here is a list of some of the costs the rescue incurs with each intake)

  • Veterinarian bills

  • Pull Fees

  • Transport fees

  • Food

  • Micro-chip and registration of chip

  • Emergency surgeries

  • Vaccinations and any medication needed to make sure the dog is ready for adoption and healthy

  • Spay/ Neuter

  • Full dental cleaning on dogs that need it (including any necessary extractions)

We try and keep our fees reasonable and affordable for most families but we rely on these fees to keep rescuing more dogs!

I submitted an application - now what?

  • A volunteer will review your application and contact you if the dog is still available and if your application is approved.(please specify which dog/ breeds you are interested in)

  • A meet & greet will be scheduled if it sounds like a good fit. Remember each dog has different needs, our volunteers know the dogs and if your lifestyle is good for that specific dog. If you aren’t chosen for that dog, it doesn’t mean that another won’t be a perfect fit!

  • At the meet and greet you and the volunteer will decide if the dog is a good fit for your family.

  • If it’s a good match you will sign paperwork pay fees and take your new baby home.

  • We do our best to insure that all dogs are healthy and ready for their new homes. If your dog shows symptoms of anything after adoption, notify us immediately.

**We do not hold dogs unless a deposit is given. All dogs posted for adoption are up to date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered.
